When I was younger, I was so interested in this money topic. I was always thinking about how many yachts I will buy and how many millions I will earn. But the answer is slightly different than I expected.

How much does a soccer player make per goal? Players like Firmino in Liverpool make anything from £25k to £100k per goal in Premier League. However, the exact amount will vary between other players and the money they make per goal will depend on various factors such as the importance of the match, contract, and club finances.

Crazy right?

Here’s a full report of how much Firmino could make a per goal at Liverpool:

  • £25k per goal for goals 1–5 scored
  • £45k per goal for goals 6–10 scored
  • £65k per goal for goals 11–15 scored
  • £85k per goal for goals 16–20 scored
  • £100k per goal for every goal scored after he’s hit 20 for the season
  • £30k per assist

Okay, now it’s getting really crazy.

And we didn’t even mention appearance bonuses, or bonuses with goals in the champions league which are much higher.

2 Factors that can impact how much a soccer player makes per goal

There a few things that we need to consider before giving you any numbers.

Let’s talk about them:

  1. Club finances

This is one of the most important things to keep in mind. Not every team can afford to play one player per goal 50,000 dollars (or pounds in Premier League).

With that saying, club finances will have the biggest impact on the exact amount.

Man City with their finances can afford to pay that much.

On the other hand, most clubs in League two would struggle with paying any amount above 5k per goal.

2. Importance of the match

There are sometimes boundaries written in the contract (as with Firmino), however, there are special matches that attract more eyes on the match, more investors, more advertisements and etc. which automatically results in more money for everyone.

I bet, that in very important matches players get a much higher bonus for scored goals as motivation.

Conclusion

With that saying, we can confidently say that top strikers make a lot of money out of bonuses alone.

There are other bonuses for other positions as well.

Goalkeeper gets a bonus for getting zero goals, or even saving a penalty.

Defenders get some bonuses as well as midfielders. It all depends on the agreement between the staff of the club and players at the beginning of the season, or at signing a professional contract.
